Press Release Regarding the Ceasefire Agreement Signed between the Government of Mali and Armed Groups

The ceasefire agreement signed between the Government of Mali and armed groups on 23 May 2014 constitutes a positive development.
Together with the United Nations and our international partners, and in line with the objective of preserving Mali’s national sovereignty and territorial integrity, we call for the implementation of this ceasefire agreement in accordance with the provisions of the Ouagadougou Agreement dated 18 June 2013.
In this context, we reiterate the importance we attach to the maintenance of an environment of internal peace, confidence and tranquillity in Mali; and confirm our support to this process in the period ahead within the framework of our friendly relations with Mali.
