Republic Of Türkiye Ministry Of Foreign Affairs 28.06.2014

No: 218, 28 June 2014

We are saddened by the death of Salwa Bugaighis, a human rights activist and lawyer and one of the most prominent figures of the Libyan Revolution of 2011, in an attack perpetrated against her on 25 June in Benghazi.

We strongly condemn this heinous attack against Salwa Bugaighis who was a member of National Transitional Council in the first stage of the Libyan Revolution and who was exerting efforts for national dialogue. We wish God’s mercy upon her and extend our condolences to her family and to the brotherly people of Libya.

We believe that the settlement of issues through dialogue and the rejection of violence are of great importance for the prevalence of stability, prosperity and democracy in Libya.
